Workshop on Ocean Prediction and Observing System Design will take place at the Met Office (Exeter, UK) from 29 June to 1 July 2022, and is planned as a face-to-face event with virtual access for those who are unable to join in person. Organized by EuroSea and OceanPredict, this open workshop will bring together the global and regional ocean observation and prediction communities to discuss the following sessions:

  • Session 1: Ocean Observing Experiments (OSEs) & Ocean Observing Simulation Experiments (OSSEs) in support of observing system design;
  • Session 2: Extreme marine events – observing, modelling, forecasting and user accessibility;
  • Session 3: Coastal Ocean: Modelling, observing system design and product utility;
  • Session 4: EuroSea & OceanPredict – in support of the UN Ocean Decade.

Each session will have oral and poster presentations and a discussion with chair and moderators. In addition, Session 4 will include a round table discussion. Abstract submission and registration will open in early March 2022.
